This sell out stage comedy tells the story of the Healy-Rae
political machine and how it brought the Kilgarvan family to
political fame, is back for its third tour.

Written by Killarney actor and storyteller Ray O’Sullivan, The Rise and Rise of the Healy-Raes play sold out to twenty performances including audiences in Dublin, Cork and Kerry.

The two-act play tells the story of bachelor brothers Densey and PJ
Doona who live their lives parallel to the rise of the Healy-Rae
political dynasty.

Hilarious at times, the play is also a poignant exploration of life in rural Ireland, loneliness, celibacy, marriage and how politics affects and changes people’s lives.
“This is not just about the Healy-Raes. This is about a way of living
that is very true to life. It is very honest and down-to-earth. It’s a
much deeper play than people might expect,” Deputy Healy-Rae said.
