Fermoy Community Tourist Office was opened in June of 2015. The project is a partnership between Fermoy Enterprise Board, Blackwater Avondhu Partnership Ltd. and Cork County Council. The office which is located on Ashe Quay is the new hub for Tourist Information as well as an access point for information for all aspects of town life for the local community.
The numbers of visitors to the office has been steadily increasing as the awareness of it’s existence increases. The office already has a presence on social media with both a Facebook and Twitter account which are gaining in popularity every week. The purpose of these pages is to allow clubs, organisations and businesses to advertise their events and services to the community.
The office will also has a website dedicated totally to Fermoy, www.fermoy.ie, which again offers all that is going on in Fermoy at any particular time as well as giving an overview of the town, it’s history attractions etc. The National Roads Authority has given permission to put the details of this website on all approach roads to Fermoy which will immediately give visitors a virtual point of information before they arrive in town whereupon they can visit the Community Tourist Office and engage with a member of the well trained staff.
This is a very exciting project for the town and it is planned that it will be a valuable resource for the community, the tourists and just as importantly the Fermoy Diaspora who are spread around the world.
